Born on 28th September , 1978, Nikki Mckibbin is a person full of life and energy. After graduating from cosmetology school she tried her hand into business and opened a karaoke company called Angelfire Productions. However later she wanted to concentrate more on her musical career and thus sold the company in the year 2005. She would often sing at the Dallas Coyote Ugly Bar.
Nikki has had a struggling life. She was a single mother and also
served as a stripper. However things has started moving for better from 2002. On that year she gave audition for the show American Idol and thus came to the limelight. Nikki was the first finalist to sing in a fixed rock style in the competition.
The aftermath of American Idol was quite significant in Nikki's life. McKibbin signed up with nineteen Management and 'RCA Records'. Although her employers requested her to record a country album, she decided to stick to her rock roots. Nikki argued that she was a "rocker, not a country singer."
In the year 2004, she appeared on the holiday CD named ' Christmas In A Fishbowl' along with a multiple of reality stars for Fishbowl.com.
In 2005, McKibbin entered in the world of reality shows. Through out the year 2005 she did a number of reality shows including an exclusive "Reality TV Stars" episode of the NBC series Fear Factor. Battle of the Network Reality Stars was the sports competition show in which her team won. She also has made appearance in the E! Entertainment reality show , namely Kill Reality .It furnished the filming of The Scorned, a movie that has been made for television ,comprising of a cast of reality television stars. McKibbin plays a singer in the film. On October 31, 2005 the movie had a gala premier . McKibbin found her place into the Screen Actors Guild.
McKibbin appeared in the band Rivethead's music video "You're So Cold".
McKibbin joined Dallas rock band namely Downside on May , 2005. They performed in a number of shows together . A mentioning may be made of a sold out show at the Hard Rock Cafe in Dallas. However Nikki left the band in September of the same year as her opinion differed in matters of creativity and also due to her personal problems . In the year 2005, she signed 'Australian indie label Astral Records'. It was also declared that rock based album was originally intended to be brought out in the market on February 2006. Recording began with manager/producer Joe Canizarro in December 2005, starting with a cover of "To Be With You" by Mr. Big. The single "The Lie"/"To Be With You" and a limited edition behind-the-scenes DVD was made accessible from Nikki's official web site. Another announcement came in 2006 . It was declared that McKibbin parted from Astral Records and would be exclusively signed to Joe Canizarro's label Chenoa Records.
McKibbin's much awaited debut album was released on May 22, 2007.
