Her mother is Nancy L. Chlumsky, who is also her coach and manager. She is very close to Elijah Wood. Was a model from the age of 10 months. Screen tested for Jurassic Park (1993). Also turned down Beethoven (1992), Lassie (1994) and a sitcom based around her life. She wants a part alongside Winona Ryder, Robert Sean Leonard or Elijah Wood. Her grandmother's prom dress was a costume for Frankenstein (1931). Her father Frank Chlumsky is a saxophone player and owns a restaurant in Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in International Studies. [2002] She has worked as a restaurant guide in the Manhattan area, and an aspiring food critic. She currently lives in New York City where she is continuing her acting career. [2004] She has worked at HarperCollins Publishers as an editorial assistant. She went to Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, Illinois. She went to Grace Lutheran Church and School in River Forest, Illinois for grade school. She got engaged in 2007 to Chinese-American Shaun So, an Army reserve member who served in Afghanistan. Coincidentally the fathers of both members of the couple are chefs. Anna's father is a restaurateur and a culinary instructor in Chicago at Kendall College and Shaun's father owns a Chinese restaurant called China Town in Topsham, Maine. Her great-grandfather owned a trained bear that appeared in Three Stooges movies. Desiring at one time to be a paleontologist, she once worked for the Museum of Natural History in Chicago, classifying fish. Taking a break from acting between 1998 and 2002, she majored in international studies at the University of Chicago, but did appear in the college's theatre productions of "Words, Words, Words," "Into The Woods," "Orestes" and "Nine," all at the University of Chicago Theatre. A co-worker of her mother, Nancy Chlumsky, at Eastern Airlines had children who did local modeling and suggested that Nancy list Anna with the agency when she was three months old. Anna modeled periodically for the next six or seven years, appearing in department store ads and the Sears catalog. In October 2007, Anna announced her engagement to Shaun So, of the US Army Reserve, who served in Afghanistan.

Anna Chlumsky was born on December 3, 1980 in Chicago, Illinois. She is an American actress, born to Nancy and Frank Chlumsky. She is best known for playing Vada Sultenfuss in the 1991 movie My Girl and the 1994 sequel My Girl 2. Chlumsky graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School. Chlumsky also graduated from the University of Chicago in 2002 and had worked in New York City as a researcher for Zagat, a restaurant review company, for a short while. In October 2007, Chlumsky announced her engagement to an Army Reservist, with the date of the wedding being in March 2008. A recent interview in the London magazine; The Thespian, quotes Anna as saying in a Feb. 23rd interview: "I don't know...we really don't want to rush it, but as much as I am nervous I know he's ready, at least for now (Laughs)" She entered show business at an early age modeling with her mother in an advertising campaign. She is best known for playing Vada Sultenfuss in the 1991 movie My Girl and the 1994 sequel My Girl 2. She was in Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain with Christina Ricci, in which they "clown around" on a "haunted" mountain. Aykroyd revealed in media outlets that Columbia was attempting to sign Anna for the role. The project is still in development stages, with no current updates in four years. Chlumsky appeared on the March 8, 2007 episode of 30 Rock called "The Fighting Irish." She played the character "Liz Lemler". She also appeared as "Mary Calvin" in an episode of NBC drama series Law & Order (Season 17, Episode 12) first airing January 12, 2007. Chlumsky is in the upcoming Off-Broadway production of Unconditional by Brett C. Leonard at The Public Theater. It is being put up by Philip Seymour Hoffman's theater group, LAByrinth Theater Company. It will go up February 2008.
