 Hollywood selects film personalities for Walk of Fame
Hollywood has picked up quite a number of actors and actresses for its famous curbside ‘Walk of Fame’ next year, including Ben Kingsley, Hugh Jackman, The Village People and fictional Tinker Bell.
Details about this news too have been grabbed from various sources. A committee of the Chamber of Commerce has selected 25 stars from among hundreds of nominations.
Some of the recipients of the sidewalk stars include William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman, Robert Downey Jr., Cameron Diaz, Leslie Caron.
Others like Tim Burton, Charles Durning, Ralph Fiennes, William Petersen, Kyra Sedgwick, John Stamos, Mark Burnett, Chuck Lorre, Kenny "Baby Face" Edmonds, Dave Koz, Doug Morris, The Miracles, Rush, Shakira, KFI radio personality Bill Handel and KCRW host Harry Shearer, who also lends voices for characters on "The Simpsons." have been incorporated as well.
On Thursday The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said that the celebrities will get their star on its Walk of Fame sometime next year. However the dates are yet to be announced.
The Walk of Fame is a stretch of sidewalk lining either side of Hollywood Boulevard on which celebrities from various fields including music, movies, television and other areas of entertainment industry have their names inscribed in brass that is fitted into large, pink terrazzo stars.
For celebrities, a star can be a memorial that lasts for decades, and myriads of visitors who use to pay visit to Hollywood annually get to see the names, talk about their favorite actors and actresses. Not only that they can take pictures near the stars.
Surprisingly Cheeta is not on the list. The animal actor, whose credits include the comedy "Doctor Dolittle" of 1967 and the "Tarzan" movies, was trying for the 7th time to get a sidewalk star.
His supporters also have launched an online petition to get supporters thereby urging the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to give him a star in the year 2009. |
