Quincy Jones: Comments on Jackson's freaky nature
Record producer Quincy Jones who is behind Jackson's rise to pop royalty also admitted that Michael Jackson was freaky!
He discussed his fondest as well as weirdest memories in an interview with a reputed news magazine. Jones expressed anger over the popstar's urge to turn himself 'white.' He said, Michael ‘obviously didn’t want to be black.’
Despite Jackson's numerous cosmetic surgeries and ever-increasing efforts to lighten his skin tone over the years, he refused to discuss his discomfort with his own skin, Jones said.
Quincy Jones told the magazine, "Oh, we talked about it all the time, but he’d come up with, ‘Man, I promise you I have this disease,’and so forth, and 'I have a blister on my lungs' and all that kind of b.s." "
On asking about the star's surgically altered nose and skin-tone, Jones said, "I didn’t believe in any of the (b.s), it’s ridiculous, man. Chemical peels and all of it. And I don’t understand it."
The interviewer asked, "Is that what it was?"
"Well, what do you think? Did you see his kids?" Jones replied.
According to reports, anonymous donors or even Jacko’s dermatologist, and not Jackson himself, fathered his three children, who show no apparent black features.
Jones said dealing with Jacko's idiosyncrasies -- including his chimp Bubbles and boa constrictor Muscles -- was just part of the job. Asked if he considered Jackson's antics odd, Jones replied: "Everybody does his own thing. I've met every freak in this business."
Jones, seventy six, said he has been devastated by the loss of so many celebrity friends in the last two weeks, especially Michael's death has hit him hard. He said, "I can’t process it, man. I don’t know how to process it. It’s just unbelieveable -- him leaving before me. It hurts my soul, man. It’s just a lump down there," Jones said. "Our souls were joined, you know. And a piece of it goes with him."
Jones has no plans to attend Tuesday's memorial service. "Because it's going to be, like, 9 million people there, and it's not what I want to see," he said. "My condolences and love I've already sent to the family."
