Shania Twain: Appears as 'American Idol' guest judge

Shania Twain is joining the ranks of "American Idol" guest judges.

Details on this news of Shania Twain have been inferred from quite a number of sources. A spokesman for the show said on Tuesday that the country singer will participate in the Chicago auditions set for the end of August.

Kelly Clarkson, the original "American Idol," and one of the Jonas Brothers also may end up as guest judges. However they had yet to be confirmed on Tuesday.

"American Idol" began enlisting visiting celebrities after a contract dispute led Paula Abdul to announce that she was quitting the show. There has been speculation that Paula Abdul still could reach a deal and return for the 9th season. The new season will start in the month of January.
