Mel Gibson: Girlfriend gives birth to a baby girl

Actor Mel Gibson became father for the eighth time. His Russian girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva gave birth of a baby girl on Friday, who was due in December.

The 53 year old actor has seven children with his estranged wife Robyn, while Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva has a son, Alexander, with her former boyfriend, actor Timothy Dalton.

After 28 years of marriage, Robyn Gibson filed for divorce on April 13, 2009, citing irreconcilable differences.

Gibson said that he and his wife split up three years ago, shortly after he was arrested in Malibu for drunken driving and launched into an alcohol-fueled tirade against Jews.

In May 2009, Gibson's representative announced that the actor and his girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, are expecting their first child some time in the fall.

On a British TV show in September, the 39 year old Grigorieva said, "I have a 12 year old, so I've been a mother for 12 years — and of course, there is no first time mother's trepidation as such. So naturally it's more relaxed, and I'm very dynamic so the pregnancy falls into my work schedule".

Speaking of her relationship with Gibson, Grigorieva said, "Actually we have no plans to marry whatsoever. I haven't thought about it — we haven't spoken about it".

Born in Peekskill, New York, Gibson moved to Sydney with his parents when he was 12 years old and raised there. He was one of the highest-paid and most popular actors in the world in the 1990s, winning best-director and best-picture Oscars for his 1995 movie "Braveheart".
