Juan Gabriel: To receive Latin Grammy honor
Juan Gabriel, the most famous Mexican singer and songwriter, will be honored as the Latin Recording Academy's Person of the Year at the Latin Grammys.
The 10th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will take place on Thursday, November 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The Latin Grammys recognize artistic and technical excellence in the recording arts and sciences by peer vote.
The Latin Recording Academy will honor the Mexican icon for his more than 100 million records sold, the 1,500 songs which he has written over his three decade career and his philanthropic work.
The 59 year old Juan Gabriel, whose birth name is Alberto Aguilera Valadez, is best known for his first hit single "Querida" and his recent "Abrázame Muy Fuerte".
The famous musicians, actors and other celebrities will attend the awards ceremony. Some of them will also perform at the ceremony.
Alica Keys is among the latest performers to join the 10th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. She will perform her new duet with Alejandro Sanz.
The event will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. on Univision.
