Carla Bruni: "Sarkozy marriage is for life and career"
The former Italian supermodel, Carla Bruni who married to French President Nicolas Sarkozy and became the third wife this month, breaks her silence today in an interview to present herself as a loving, dedicated spouse far removed from her flighty, rock’n’roll reputation. She said that “her marriage was for life and that she would put her pop star career on hold to become first lady. She will do her best”.
The former supermodel, Carla Bruni told L'Express week "I am culturally Italian and I would not like to divorce," expressing her love with the 53-year-old president that led to their whirlwind two month romance and their wedding on February 2.
40-year-old, Carla Bruni told, "So I am the first lady up until the end of my husband's mandate, and then his wife until death".
Her first state visit with her husband will be to London next month, when she will meet the Queen. It will be “exhilarating”, she said.
Bruni said she would put her musical career to one side after the release of her next album.
Her first album, released in 2002, "Quelqu'un m'a dit", sold two million copies.
"I won't stop myself from writing and composing, but until the end of my husband's mandate, I probably won't record another album. After that, we'll see."
Carla Bruni, who plans to keep her own flat as well as the Elysee apartment said, "Just as Nicolas is unlike his predecessors, I would also -- while respecting the dignity of the office, like to keep my own personality".
Bruni's romance with President Sarkozy became public in December 2007, two months after Sarkozy's divorce from his second wife Cecilia and they married in a private ceremony at the Elysee palace on February 2. |
